Many people don’t even think about dog safety when putting their pet in the car. You buckle your seat belt but its easy to forget about your furry friend. It may not seem like a big deal but not watching out for your dogs safety in the car can be dangerous for you as well as your pet.
1) No matter what size your dog is if you have to slam on the breaks the last thing you need is a 5-80 pound animal being thrown around in your car.
2) A harness or dog seatbelt ensures dog safety by prevening your dog from jumping out of an open window to chase the squirrel down the road.
3) It’s incredibly dangerous to have a dog by your feet when you are driving. It impedes with your driving and puts you, your pet, and everyone else on the road in potential danger.
4) Driving when your distracted is dangerous by having your dog harnessed in your car you don’t need to worry about where they are, if they are safe, or whether they are trying to crawl into the front seat to be closer to you.
5) In case of an accident if you use a crash rated dog harness you know your dog will still be in the backseat and as safe as possible. Although you could use a flat collar for basic restraint in the case of an accident your dog would be much safer in a crash rated harness instead of a basic flat collar.
