Want to make your own paracord cobra braid dog leash but don’t know how? Imagine following a video to make your own custom paracord dog leash with ease. Watch this video to find out how.
Supplies Needed:
- Scissors
- Paracord – The length depends on the length you want the leash to be. In the video I used 20 feet of paracord to make around a one foot leash. The inner cords need to be only as long as you want the leash to be. Make sure to add a few inches for knotting the ends and splicing them back into the cobra braid.
- Lighter – To singe the ends of the paracord. Can also be used to finish and melt the ends to the main cords at the end of the paracord dog leash.
- Dog Leash Clip – You can use whatever you prefer as the dog leash clip. In my video I used a lobster clasp rated for a maximum weight of 40 pounds.
First fold each of your cords in half and weave them through the bottom of the dog leash clip. The shorter cords should be on the inside. The cords on the outside are going to be the main color of the leash. The inside cord color will be the line that runs through the leash.
Next start your weave. Don’t make it too tight because once you are done weaving you will be pulling on the weave to loosen it so that you can see the inner cord. Braid your paracord until it is almost the length you want it to be. Don’t forget that you need to include the handle in the lenth of your cord.
After finishing your weave and pulling on it to loosen it fold over the section you want to be the handle. Then braid the cords back into the braiding. I pulled the black inner cords in my video into the handle and tied two knots. Because the knotting can be slid around allowing the black cord to slide will compress or expand your braid.
Finally the outer cords I braided down the leash. Make sure to do this at least 4 times to ensure it doesn’t come out. You can then cut off the excess paracord and glue or burn/melt the cords to the rest of the cord to finish the paracord dog leash.
