DIY Paracord Dog Leash – Advanced Solomon

Advanced Solomon Knot

This hands free leash was made using the advanced solomon knot.  The leash can be clipped to your pants, a belt, etc. Be aware however if your dog pulls a lot to attach the leash to something more secure.

Supplies Needed:

  1. Scissors
  2. Paracord – In the video I used two strands of paracord at 140 inches to make 8 inches of knots and had 110 inches left over of the weaving color cord (black) and 20 inches left over of the main knot color (purple). To make a 6 foot leash you will need around 22.5 feet of the inner core color (black) and 96 feet of the outer core color (purple).
  3. Lighter – To singe the ends of the paracord. Can also be used to finish and melt the ends to the main cords at the end of the paracord dog leash.
  4. Dog Leash Clip – You can use whatever you prefer as the dog leash clip. In my video I used a lobster clasp rated for a maximum weight of 40 pounds.
  5. Paracord Jig (Optional) – This is helpful for keeping your paracord tight when working. The one I used in this video can be found at https://amzn.to/2LKM3Wt.This is helpful for creating a short leash when using both clips (the maximum length when using both hooks on the jig is 18 inches). If you only use the one clip you can use it to make a longer leash.
