Trying to find crate safe dog toys can be a challenge. This is especially true if your dog is a power chewer. There are some basic things to keep in mind when choosing toys for your dogs crate.
First I would make sure that the toy you choose is durable. You don’t want to leave a toy your dog could rip apart with them incase they eat pieces of the toy. If your dog is not a strong chewer you don’t need to worry about this as much. However if your dog has separation anxiety keep in mind they may rip up something they normally wouldn’t because they are alone.
Additionally make sure any of the toys you choose as crate safe dog toys are not too small. Toys that are too small can pose a choking hazard to your dog. It would be terrible to come home and find your dog choked on a toy while you were away.
Finally I would make sure that the toy doesn’t have small parts that could break off when your dog is chewing or playing with it. Keep an eye out for things like eyes that are sewen on. I would also recommend before leaving your dog alone to check all toys to make sure they aren’t cracked or damaged.
