Dog Care | Emergency Information

One of the common things that is overlooked when you have a dog is a list of emergency information. I would recommend putting together a binder that includes all of your dog care information including:

Vet Records – Any and all information that the vet gives you on your dog including receipts.
How to perform the heimlich on a dog (put this at the very front of the binder or on the front cover.
Emergency vet phone numbers in your area – Include hours of operation. You want at least two different vets that are open 24 hours incase anything happens where you need to get your dog to a vet immediately. Make sure to include the address of these business so you can put them into your GPS. If you do not have a GPS print off two different ways to get to each place. You want more than one set of directions for each vet because if there is a road closure you will need a different way to get there.
Any allergy information on your dog. This should be one of the first things in your binder.
Medication your dog has taken and when – Make sure to keep this current.

If you end up needing to take your dog to the emergency vet all you need to do is grab this binder on your way out the door and you will have all of your dogs information with you. It’s too easy to forget what meds your dog may be taking or what their less common allergies are when you are stressed. I would recommend keeping this binder in a central easy to grab location so you don’t have to dig for it when needed.
