From the day I adopted my former dog Terra I had a hard time getting her to let me clip her nails. It ended up getting to the point where I would go to get the nail clippers and she wouldn’t let me anywhere near her with them.
I found a dog nail dremel and gave it a shot and it worked well. There were a few things though that I had to learn about them. First was that you can’t hold the dremel to your dogs nail for more than around 30 seconds. This is because the friction of the dremel spinning causes the dogs nail to get hot and it becomes uncomfortable plus you don’t want to burn your dogs nail.
It also took some time to convince Terra that it wasn’t like the nail clipper. I think she really didn’t like how the nail clipper pinched her nail when it clipped them. A major plus for the nail dremel though was that I didn’t have to worry about hitting the quick of her nail like I had done too many times with the nail clipper.
