Necessary Dog Tag Information

dogidtagIt can be overwhelming to think about what information to put on a dogs tag so here are some tips that I have found to be helpful.

If you move a lot check with your microchip company to see if they charge you to change your address or phone number in their system. It may be less expensive to put one tag on your dog that has the dogs name as well as the microchip number and the microchip companies number. This would prevent you from the hassle of repeatedly purchasing new tags.

In some areas it is acceptable to let your dogs run loose so I make sure to put something on one of the tags that makes it extremely clear that the dog is lost. On my tags I put please help I am lost. That way when they are found by someone they aren’t mistaken for the neighbors dog down the road that they let run free.

I find it important to put the dogs name on the id tag so that if they are found the person knows the name of the dog which can be used to help identify the dog in a shelter situation.

It’s important to put a phone number that you will hear ring preferably 24/7. I make sure to put my cell phone on the tag since my cell phone is with me at all times.
