When choosing a dog breed the size that the dog will end up can make a difference as to whether the dog is a good fit for you or not. For example if you are living in an apartment they may ban dogs over a certain weight so it may not work for you to get a large dog. Here are some of the benefits and cons of a small dog.
They take up less space. If you have a small cramped apartment that you are living in you will have more room to move around without asking the dog to move repeatedly.
They are less expensive to feed. Small dogs will eat smaller amounts of food which make them less expensive to keep in relation to how much they eat.
Their toys and supplies take up less room. You don’t need a large crate for a small dog and when storing their food you don’t need a huge container which can save a ton of space.
You can fit a crate in your small car. If you want to have your dog in a crate instead of in a seatbelt harness when driving the smaller crate will fit better in a car than a large crate.
They can be lapdogs. Ok so technically large dogs can be lapdogs too however a 50 pound dog that tries to sleep in your lap is much heavier than a small 10 pound dog.
